An Update for My Readers:
I haven’t been posting stories on From the Senior’s Corner recently, but that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on writing. My focus has shifted to a new project—writing a book that will be available on Amazon within a couple of weeks. It’s been quite a journey, pushing me far outside my comfort zone. Along the way, I’ve learned so much about how to transform my ideas from thoughts to words, from manuscript to publication, and finally, to bringing them to market. But I did it, and I’m proud to announce, We May Not Be Crazy, But Sometimes I Wonder. Embracing Life’s Journey With Humour, Wisdom and Adventure will soon be available to the public.
There are three questions that people ask me when they hear about my upcoming book, and so I thought I would share these questions with you, along with my answers.
The first question is always, “What is your book about?” And my answer is – “Have you ever had a day straight from hell? The kids are driving you crazy, maybe the husband too, and everything that possibly could go wrong, has? On top of all that, the gift of aging just keeps on giving and giving, resulting in unexpected obstacles that require us to constantly change and adapt our behaviour. We have all experienced the ups and downs on this roller coaster ride we call life. How does one cope?
Over the years, I have found that the best way to deal with the downs is to have a sense of humour, and above all, to laugh at yourself. The trick is to look at the event, put things in perspective, and hopefully see the funny side of the situation. In other words, don’t sweat the small stuff.
Now, let’s be clear—I’m not talking about the soul-crushing tragedies that life throws our way. No, I’m referring to those pesky little irritations that sneak into our daily lives—such as lack of sleep, incompetent contractors, unwanted wildlife, aging—things that just slowly chip away at our sanity until we’re ready to explode.”
The second most common question is, “What was your motivation for writing this book?”
This one is easy to answer. I wanted to share my stories with the hope that they would do four things for my readers.
- Bring a smile to their face
- Reveal some unorthodox albeit successful ways to adapt to life challenges
- Show that living life to the fullest is the only way to travel
- Remind them that laughter, especially at yourself, can be a sanity saver.
And finally, because people are naturally curious, the question often arises, “Did these stories actually happen?”
Well, yes, these stories are all based on real events, and as far as I’m concerned, they are 100 percent accurate. Of course, they’re told from my perspective, so the family members involved in the particular narratives might have a slightly different take on things. But the facts are the facts—there’s no denying that.
Stay tuned for my next From the Senior’s Corner for all the details on where and when you can get your hands on my book. You might recognize echoes of your own life within its pages. There’s an old saying, “That which is most personal, is most universal.” So, welcome to my world, where the party of life awaits. May my tales inspire you to smile, laugh, and take yourself a little less seriously.
